IONAS STROUMSAS
He was born in Thessaloniki by David Stroumsas and Loukia Sarfatis. He is married to Ioulia Alihanidis and they have a daughter, Loukia. His grandfather, Ionas, was a distinguished person in Veria who put in commerce and banking.

From 1936 to 1940 he was a student at the Valagiannis elementary school, and later, during the 2nd World War he was relocated to Sykia, Veria, and continue his studies. Afterwards, he returned to Thessaloniki and joined the 2nd Men's High School of Thessaloniki. His insight was one of the reasons he was soon honored for his performance, being distinguished as a firstling home educator. In 1948, he took exams and entered the Athens School of Pharmaceutics, where he graduated from in 1953. During the two years until his military service, he was initially employed in a pharmacy and soon became an Assistant pharmacist. Within 3 months he undertook the pharmacy as a specialist.

During 1955-1958 he served the infantry in Ioannina, where he was responsible for the army pharmaceutical mobilization equipment site. Within the 34 months of his military service, the knowledge he acquired in the fields of financial and storage sites organization and management was the hinge for his subsequent career. On returning, in 1958, from his military service, he bought a pharmaceutical store license and in 1959 he established his own enterprise. He has been put in the medicines trading business ever since.

Despite the hard competition and the vicissitudes he anticipated at times, he managed to be ingrained in the field of pharmaceuticals and nowadays, having exploited all the up-to-date tools of technology, concerning the operations of a pharmaceutical logistic center, he has conquered the top among the businesses activated in this field. He speaks English, French and Spanish. He was the President of the real Estate Committee of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki for over 25 years. He has been honored twice by the Panhellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers and has consolidated cooperation with several Multinational companies. He is a member of the Trade, Industrial and Hellenic-American Chambers. He co-chaired the Panhellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers for 23 years, while he was a member of the Board of Directors and co-chairman of the Greek Pharmaceutical Wholesalers Corporation for more than 5 years.
